The 40 tracks on this set not only contain John Lee Hooker's complete Vee-Jay output prior to 1962 but also arguably the best work of his career. While he would go on to celebrate a lengthy and successful career, including a late resurgence in popularity towards the end of the 20th century, tracks such as 'Boogie Chillun', 'Hobo Blues', 'Crawlin King Snake', 'Tupelo' and 'Boom Boom' remain timeless reminders of a Bluesman in his prime.
